Project Schedule
Since Fall 2020, the project team has been sharing helpful information and soliciting feedback, ideas, concerns, and questions through this website, several City websites, newsletters, local newspapers, community events, and public meetings. The project team has also presented data, methods, key findings, recommendations, and project status updates at numerous public events and meetings throughout the project.

Public Comment Period
March 8, 2023 - March 15, 2023
A public comment period was held from March 8th to March 15th where residents could submit official comments and suggest revisions to the Public Review Draft of the 2021-2029 Housing Element. Staff will now review public comments and revise the draft Housing Element for HCD final review and adoption.

The Planning Commission recommended that the Alhambra City Council adopt the Initial Study - Negative Declaration (IS/ND) for the proposed 2021-2029 Housing Element, which it did at a public hearing on January 31, 2022. Public Comment Period
December 17, 2021 - January 15, 2022
The IS/ND was been prepared in accordance with CEQA Guidelines and a 30-day public comment period was held from December 17, 2021 to January 15, 2022. The time to submit comments has passed. Please see important documents relating to this process (the notice, as well as the IS/ND Report and appendices) on the Project Documents page.
Planning Commission Public Hearing
January 3, 2022
In accordance with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines the City of Alhambra has prepared an Initial Study - Negative Declaration (IS/ND) for the proposed 2021-2029 Housing Element. The IS/ND will was reviewed at a Planning Commission Public Hearing on January 3rd where the Commission recommended adoption to City Council. The IS/ND document and Planning Commission Staff Report can be found on the Project Documents page.

Pubic Comment Period
August 26 - September 26
The Public Review Draft of the Housing Element was released on August 26th and a public comment period ran from August 26 to September 26. This was the official time to submit formal comments and suggest revisions to the draft Housing Element before it moves toward HCD review and adoption.
You can still access the document on the Project Documents page, but the time to submit official comments has passed.

Housing Element Town Hall Events
Throughout April, the Alhambra Council Members each hosted a Town Hall event to discuss the Housing Element project. These presentations included an overview of RHNA and a discussion of potential housing strategies for the community's input.

Community Survey
A community survey was conducted in February and March 2021. This survey began at the Community Workshop and was open for three weeks. The survey sought feedback, experiences, concerns, and ideas as it relates to living in Alhambra, moving here, building new housing, maintaining housing, or offering housing services and assistance to those in need. This input will be used to inform the Housing Element as it is prepared.
